Tryon International Equestrian Center

Tryon International Equestrian Center

The FEI Equestrian World Games are coming to Western North Carolina in September of 2018 (9/11 – 9/23).  This is expected to bring an enormous amount of people into the tiny community of Mill Spring, North Carolina which typically has a population of less than 5,000 people.  During the games the total spectators present are expected to exceed 50,000 people per day.  That is a lot of people!  Will Mill Spring and the surrounding communities be able to handle this sudden population explosion?  Absolutely!  The area has had plenty of time to prepare for this event and if there is one thing North Carolinians excel at, it is being hospitable.  This doesn’t mean that there won’t be some challenges during the event.  However, in the rural areas of Western North Carolina, people get things done.  There is the obvious issue of people getting to the event from the local airports (GSP, AVL, or CLT) and then getting around once they are at the event.  That is where the Van in Black is here to help!  While we are certain there will be plenty of other transportation services available in the area, including the popular ridesharing applications, very few will be able to handle groups of six or more in a single vehicle including all their luggage.  This is not the case with the Van in Black.  The Van in Black is big!  It is also one of the few transportation companies that is authorized to work at all of the local airports in addition to crossing state lines.  So whatever your needs are; whether it is a shuttle from GSP to Mill Creek, a sightseeing tour of the local sights, or just basic transportation around the equestrian center, the Van in Black is here to handle all your transportation needs.  Just call the toll-free number listed at the top of this page and someone will coordinate service with you.

Is Beer Your Thing?

Craft Breweries in the Carolinas!

The microbrewery trend that has been slowly growing across America over the last decade has certainly not missed the Carolinas.  Microbreweries are sprouting up all over the Carolinas and they are thriving!  Each one offering their own unique and flavorful take on the centuries old art of brewing while creating an atmosphere where people can gather and enjoy their latest creations.  Like many of the wineries of the Carolinas, they come in different sizes and have different offerings above and beyond their beer samplings.  Some may just stick to the beer and offer light snacks to go with it while others may have full service restaurants with live entertainment, gift shops, etc.  The variety and diversity of each brewery truly contributes to the experience and defines the vibe of the city that hosts them.  What better way to spend an evening with your friends who like beer than visiting three or four (or more!) breweries one afternoon or evening.  Let the Van in Black be your designated driver so that everyone in your party can enjoy themselves.  You could drive yourself, but why?  You define the locations and we get you there safely.  Whether you want to tour breweries in Asheville, Charlotte, Greenville, Spartanburg, or any of the surrounding areas, the Van in Black is available when you need us.

The Van in Black is So Big…

Yeah, That Could Really Happen!

How big is it?  It is so big that, in theory, if you wanted the van to pick you and your Smart car up in Charlotte and drop you off in Asheville, it could happen:

Smart Car Inside Van In Black
Yeah, this could really happen!

Keep in mind that this is only in theory and no Smart cars were harmed in the making of this blog post.  A more realistic picture of what the van can carry (in addition to 12 people), would be something like this:

Where is Your Favorite Winery in the Carolinas?

An Autumn Winery

Both North and South Carolina have a number of wineries that are popular spots to visit and tour.  The North Carolina winery scene is a little more established than South Carolina which is evident by the sheer number of wineries already established in North Carolina.  However, more and more South Carolina wineries are popping up and the local wine scene there is rapidly growing.  The good news is that wherever you are in North or South Carolina, there are probably a number of wineries that are reasonably close to you and make a great day trip, they’re easy and inviting to visit for a tour, tasting, lunch, or all of the above.
