For the first time in 86 years, the PGA is returning to Asheville North Carolina with the inaugural Biltmore Championship which will be played at the Cliffs at Walnut Cove. The event, which is scheduled to be held September 17th – 20th, comes at a perfect time for this region. Late September in the hills of North Carolina will provide idyllic weather and scenery that will really showcase the natural beauty of the mountain region. Furthermore, the positive economic impact of this event will also help boost the local economy that is still recovering from the impact of Hurricane Helene that hit the region in late 2024. Hosting this new event really is a colossal win for the area and major kudos need to be given to Biltmore and Explore Asheville for working to attract and host this major golfing event, part of the PGA Tour’s FedExCup Fall. The inaugural event is currently scheduled to kick off in the Fall of 2026 and then return again for the next three years (four years in total). We’re here for it!

Our Time to Shine!
From my perspective, being part of the Asheville service and hospitality industry, this really is our time to shine and show the world what makes this area so special. I am confident that this mountain region will shine! I not only work in this industry but I know many other people who work in it as well and yes, I also support the industry personally. I eat at the restaurants, visit the hotels, frequent the attractions, and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. To quote a friend of mine, Tennille Tracy (editor at Edible Asheville) , “Asheville hits way above its weight class!”. Tennille was speaking specifically about food and the restaurant scene when she made the comment (which I absolutely agree with) but this statement is also true about everything else related to Asheville. Asheville isn’t really a big city but its offerings can compete with just about any large city anywhere else. There is a unique charm to this region that will be noticed by everyone who visits the area for this event. First time visitors will leave here wanting to return and they will tell others about their experience. Visitors who have been here before are likely already looking forward to returning to the Asheville area. This event really is a golden opportunity for all of us in the service and hospitality industry. It is our time to shine!
Transportation?
Now comes the pitch because just about everyone visiting for this golf event will need transportation services of one form or another. Van in Black will be ready and will strive to happily serve everyone visiting the area with our large fleet of comfortable Sprinter vans, sedans, and SUVs. I believe that we have the largest fleet of Sprinter vans in Western North Carolina and are also among the highest rated transportation providers in the region. We have the staff, vehicles, and experience needed to provide any level of transportation needed. I will say, however, that the demand for services during September of 2026 will be EXCEPTIONALLY high. The Fall is typically our busiest season as there will already be a high demand for weddings, wine tours, and scenic trips. We will staff as needed and acquire vehicles as we can but the demand is going to be significant. I can not stress the importance of booking early. Please help us help you by booking your transportation needs early! If nothing else, just contact us and get the conversation started so that we have time to plan. Early engagement does help and has a major positive impact on the overall success of any endeavor.
So, as this year closes out and we move into next year, Van in Black is here, we’re ready, let us know how we can best serve you. Check out our fleet, give us a call, let’s discuss your transportation needs to see how best to accommodate your booking and let’s make it happen!
